Fire Officer I
Course Description: A 5 module course designed for “new” officers or officer candidates to learn basic skills such as communication, effective supervision and resource management. Module 1 is an 8 hour orientation session with a brief grammar review, (no test) each of the following 4 modules are 16 hours in length (including a module test) and introduces the following topics: The Company Officer’s Role in Challenges and Opportunities, Effective Communications, Organization, Management, Managing Resources, Leadership, Personal Safety, Leading Others, Fire Prevention, Building Construction, Fire Prevention and Investigation, Planning and Readiness, and Incident Management.
Prerequisites: NFPA 1021-2003 edition, Instructor Level I, Hazardous Materials Operations IS 700,
IS 100 and IS 200
DATES/TIMES: Monday & Wednesday
18:30-22:30 hours
Every Other Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, (1st Saturday)
09:00-17:00 hours
