FAUQUIER COUNTY ALS/BLS AIC RELEASE PROCEDURE:

  • 1.  Complete the Fauquier County ALS Release Procedure.  Lt. Mary Hart - Coordinator (email)
  • 2.  Obtain a copy of the Fauquier County Permission to Practice Agreement, which is available                                    at : www.fauquierfirerescue.org.
  • 3.  Have your company chief sign the agreement indicating that they agree with your release, that you have                completed the necessary requirements to be released, and recommending to the Operational Medical Director      that you be allowed to practice at the specified level.
  • 4.  Present the signed Permission to Practice Agreement and COPIES of precepting paperwork to DFREM                Training Division for presentation to the Operational Medical Director.
  • 5.  Once the paperwork is received by the Training Division and reviewed for accuracy and is complete, the                packet will be presented to the Operational Medical Director for signature.
  • 6.  When the OMD has signed the Permission to Practice Agreement, the Training Division will make an                    appointment with the provider for presentation of the Permission to Practice Agreement and the Narcotics            Knox Box Key.  The provider will then sign the Permission to Practice Agreement.  At that time, the provider        will be considered released by Fauquier County at their perspective certification level.


ALTERNATIVE RELEASE METHODS

PROVIDERS RELEASED IN ANOTHER JURISDICTION:

  • 1.   Obtain a copy of the Fauquier County Permission to Practice Agreement, which is available                                    at www.fauquierfirerescue.org.
  • 2.  Obtain a letter signed by the Operational Medical Director from the other jurisdiction which states that the          provider is CURRENTLY providing care at the same level in good standing for which they are seeking                  release in Fauquier County.
  • 3.  Have your company chief sign the agreement indicating that they agree with your release, that you have                completed the necessary requirements to be released, and recommending to the Operational Medical Director      that you be allowed to practice at the specified level.
  • 4.  Present the signed Permission to Practice Agreement and COPIES of documents required from step no. 2 to          DFREM Training Division for presentation to the Operational Medical Director.
  • 5.  Once the paperwork is received by the Training Division and reviewed for accuracy and is complete, the                packet will be presented to the Operational Medical Director for signature.
  • 6.  When the OMD has signed the Permission to Practice Agreement, the Training Division will make an                    appointment with the provider for presentation of the Permission to Practice Agreement and the Narcotics            Knox Box Key.  The provider will then sign the Permission to Practice Agreement.  At that time, the provider        will be considered released by Fauquier County at their perspective certification level.


Outside Region Release

Certified ALS providers from other areas wishing to practice in Fauquier County must meet the following criteria:

  • 1.  Documentation of one (1) year of field experience or successful completion of a release program, comparable        to the Fauquier County release program.
  • 2.  A letter of competency from the provider’s previous OMD.  The letter should state which ALS field skills the        provider is qualified to perform.
  • 3.  Documentation that the “my I course”  has been completed.
  • 4.  Successful completion of Fauquier County’s Skills from a qualified T-t-T 
  • 5.  Successful completion of the Protocol Test.  Which will require a score of 90% or better on a 50 question,              open-book test.
  • 6.  All of this information will be presented to the OMD for review and final determination will be made.

Once all the criteria have been met, the Fauquier County ALS Release Process may be waived.

** The provider’s individual agency will make the final decision as to whether or not the provider may practice.  Each agency has the discretion to require an orientation program.
