New SCBA Bailout Procedure and RIT Update

COURSE DESCRIPTION: At the March 2014 Chief’s Meeting, it was unanimously approved by the group to remove the current SCBA bailout packs and replace with SCOTT approved waste belts. In conjunction with this decision, a plan was established and also approved by the Chief’s Group to ensure members of the fire and rescue system receive a comparable device/equipment, along with training to ensure bailouts are still an option should personnel be confronted with such as emergency. The Chief’s group approved that the Fire Operations Group (FOG) conduct two train-the-trainers (TTT) at the Fire and Rescue Training Center located at 210 Hospital Drive. Each company should send several IDLH released representatives to one of the two trainings offered by the FOG. Only one of the two training sessions need to be attended, both sessions are redundant to ensure we develop the greatest number of TTTs as possible. Each training session is only expected to last two hours. Each company chief will be responsible to ensure their personnel receive this bailout and RIT Manual update training during this initial phase, but also from this point forward, as new personnel enter the system. The bailout training will be based on the VDFP MayDay! curriculum.
